I am Polish-American and grew up praying in Polish and in English. If you'd like to learn how to pray in Polish, you'll need to begin with the Sign of the Cross.

Sign of the Cross  in Polish:

W imię Ojca i Syna i Ducha Świętego. Amen.

Sign of the Cross in English:

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

How to Say Our Father in Polish:

Picture

Ojcze nasz
Ojcze nasz,
którys jest w Niebie,
swiec sie Imie Twoje,
przyjdz Królestwo Twoje,
badz wola Twoja,
jako w Niebie,
tak i na ziemi,
chleba naszego powszedniego daj nam dzisiaj
I odpusc nam nasze winy,
jako i my odpuszczamy naszym winowajcom,
i nie wódz nas na pokuszenie,
ale nas zbaw ode zlego.

Our Father
Our Father,
Who art in Heaven,
hallowed be Thy name;
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those
who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

If you'd like to hear how to say the Our Father/Ojcze nasz and other prayers in Polish, this video is great.

You can read aloud along with the narrator who is praying the Rosary in Polish.

I too went to Polish grammar school for 8 years. Both my parents were full blooded Polish. I learned all my prayers in Polish, sang Polish hymns in church...I’m 73 now and except for a few phrases, I don’t remember anything. So sad 😢

Not to be sad about at all. Praise God you learned hymns and prayers, I dont care the language. I am just remembering my youth and the wonderful times i had learning them all. May even have been a drudgery, but God says ‘“my word shall accomplish that where i have sent it” you are blesed to even have it in your head, i wish i could speak it better and share the truths i know in english, blessed be the name of the Lord

It has been years, many years since I heard Polish or said the Polish Prayers, and to say them with St John Paul was beautiful.
Thank You!!! It did surprise me that I remembered the words, but once I just listened, it all came back to me. Thank You.

Hi Barbara! It is amazing what our minds can do! I'm so glad it came back to you. Praying in Polish is such an amazing experience. It brings back so many memories for me (especially hearing the entire rosary. We prayed out loud a lot as a kid!). Thanks so much for reading!

This is beautiful....I went to a Polish Catholic school and thought I forgot all the Polish prayers but as I listened, it was coming back to me. I love the Blessed Virgin and love hearing the Rosary in Polish and hearing the Pope's voice just made it so much better....Thank you!

I am of Polish descent and am really enjoying the prayers and songs.
Went during my young days to a Polish school and church and all of this brought back many memories. My sister will be 100 in January and I was wondering if there is cd or dvd with all of the rosary prayers and songs.I know she would love it.

Hi Madge!

That is so nice to hear - it's an amazing thing to be able to pray in another language and it really does bring back so many memories. Wow - sto lat! Wszystkiego najlepszego to your sister! If she has access to a computer/mobile device, there are beautiful MP3s available with our Pope John Paul II available: http://amzn.to/2i0pVd1

I see there is also a two disc set (CD) available with one CD of Pope John Paul II reciting the rosary in Latin and Polish. http://amzn.to/2uDn13R I will let you know if I find a DVD!

I will absolutely post the Hail Mary in Polish in a new blog post. In the meantime, DM:

Zdrowaś Maryjo, łaski pełna,
Pan z Tobą,
błogosławionaś Ty między niewiastami,
i błogosławiony owoc żywota Twojego, Jezus.
Święta Maryjo, Matko Boża,
módl się za nami grzesznymi
teraz i w godzinę śmierci naszej
Amen.

Attended a Polish School and learned Polish in K, 1st and 2nd grade. I wish the nuns would have continued teaching our young minds the importance and relevance to keep our heritage alive. My husband and I still attend, on occasion, a Polish Mass that is offered . Beautiful to listen to and proud to join in on some of the prayers and hymns.

It’s such a great feeling to pray together in Polish! I’m so glad you had the experience of Polish school for a few years. It really is so important to keep the traditions and heritage alive. I am so proud to be Polish!

Yes, “everyone who trusts in the Lord will be saved.” But before people can pray to the Lord for help, they must believe in him. And before they can believe in the Lord, they must hear about him. And for anyone to hear about the Lord, someone must tell them.

I'm a Lutheran pastor married to a naturalized Polish woman. We are learning Polish, (our kids and I), but this is great that you have these two pieces of the service in Polish. Do you have the Creeds or a Benediction in Polish?

I'm wondering if you know of a liturgical Polish book that might have some of these items already in it?

I’m one cf the ones that went to Polish Catholic school. At one time when Babcia & aunts & uncles were here we spoke and I was even able to write letters for my babcia.
I’m so happy with this. Site relearning the prayers are wonderful. In all the years -about 50 whenever I pray I always say the Sign of the Cross in Polish.

I went to a Polish, Roman Catholic school for 8 years. Unf.ortunately, they taught phonetic Polish (not translated). I can speak and read Polish, but I don't know what it means. What a waste of 8 years.

My mother - no longer with us - attended a Catholic school in Poland from about 1918. She taught me what I thought was the daily prayer the whole class recited - beginning "Boszeh moi ....

How might that have continued?
Some of the rules were terrible and punitive especially as
she was left-handed and was severely punished unless she wrote using her right hand.
