Women in Language & Why I Rap Following the incredible Women in Language conference, I have been so motivated and inspired by the determined, creative linguistas and polyglots I had the pleasure of meeting. Today's video was fully inspired by Kerstin from Fluent Language. I love the idea of doing creative work in another language and anytime I try to write a poem in another language, I can't help but make it a rap song. #LanguagePoems Kerstin is encouraging everyone to use #LanguagePoems to share their own writing in the target language of their choice. If you know me, you know I love to rap in other languages. Just for fun. Here is my contribution. My original rap song, "Ich bin die Nikki."
Ich bin die Nikki und ich liebe Sprachen. wenn ich sie benutze ich muss immer lachen. Ich lerne gern und unterrichte auch mit ganzem Herzen und Seele bis auf meinem Bauch. I encourage you to free write in the language you are learning! Leave a comment below with your own #LanguagePoem :) As always, please let me know if you have any questions! Learning a Language Online
Recently named the number one satisfying hobby by the Cut, I wholeheartedly agree and am thrilled to be a teacher who continues to be a language student. I love languages and I jumped at the opportunity to partner with Lingoda! We love languages. Lingoda offers online language lessons with qualified native speaking teachers. In virtual classrooms you learn together with teachers and students from all over the world. You can see, hear and interact with each other - like in a traditional language school, just online. Languages bring people together and build bridges between cultures. Learning a language is like learning to see the world through different eyes. And we love what we do. Lingoda's goals completely align with Speak at Home Tonight's vision to make learning easier and more accessible to all. Not everyone has the possibility to attend traditional language schools and there are many inconveniences and discomfort involved: time spent commuting back and forth to school, being forced to learn at fixed times, progress is either too slow or too fast, the learning content is completely generic and classes can be very expensive, especially to learn with a native speaking teacher. The best feeling in the world to a teacher is helping people achieve their goals -by providing the highest quality learning experience. I'm thrilled to be partnering with them. I took several German classes over the last few weeks and am truly impressed by the high standards of quality Lingoda delivers. Start learning today: here's $50 Off! It's a privilege to announce Lingoda is offering €50/$50 off to Speak at Home Tonight's readers/viewers all around the world! Use code: NIKKI. There is no reason to wait any longer - learning another language has been on your to-do list forever, it keeps you young and healthy, and what else are you going to do this winter? Plus, don't you want to take a trip somewhere to use those language skills or impress someone with your foreign language skills? Impress yourself with how much you can learn (from home!) It is so much fun! Let me know which language you are going to learn first! As always, please let me know if you have any questions! Slow German Lesson 13:
Der Neujahrsvorsatz/The New Year's Resolution {Deutsch/German} Hallo, wie geht's euch? Mir geht es ganz gut. Ich entspanne mich ein bisschen Zuhause. Bei mir ist es gemütlich denn draußen ist es ganz kalt. Also, ich wollte sehen ob ihr irgendwelche Vorsätze getroffen habt. Also hast du einen Neujahrsvorsatz? Möchtest du vielleicht mehr lesen? Oder vielleicht ein bisschen weniger auf dem Handy zu sein? Also...möchtest du vielleicht dreimal pro Woche ins Fitnesstudio gehen? Lass mich wissen was du machen wirst! Was hast du vor dieses Jahr? Also frohes neues Jahr 2018! Wir sehen uns bald. Tschüss! {Englisch/English} Hi, how are you all? I'm doing quite well. I'm relaxing a bit at home. It's really cozy here because outside it's quite cold. So I wanted to see if you guys have made any resolutions? So, do you have a New Year's Resolution? Would you maybe like to read more? Or maybe spend a little less time on your cell phone? So...would you like to maybe go to the gym three times per week? Let me know what you will do! What are you planning to do this year? So, Happy New Year 2018! I'll see you soon. Bye! As always, please let me know if you have any questions!
